Spiritual

In every way we can think of, for all levels of care, we support you spiritually and emotionally.

Our full-time chaplain, Rev. Caroline East, is available for one-on-one pastoral care and counseling. A Charlotte native, she leads grief and other support groups and other planned activities. She supports the bereaved and caregivers tending to a loved one. She works with Hospice and funeral homes. She is a powerful presence on campus, whether in worship, Bible study or conversation over a meal. Her door is always open. Your concerns are her concerns.

Residents, including those in assisted living and health care, have easy access to such rites and sacraments as Holy Communion. All faith traditions are honored.

The chapel, located down the hall from the front desk, is open 24/7 for personal prayer and meditation. Regular worship services speak to Christians of all denominations. Yoga, tai chi, guided meditation, spiritual conversation groups and special speakers are available. So is music and art therapy. Our wooded campus, outdoor sculptures and green space promote peace and quiet.

The Sharon at SouthPark’s spiritual commitment is captured in a comment Caroline made to a SouthPark magazine article that highlighted her work, and her calling.

“It’s the opportunity to be there with people through all of life’s major experiences,” she said. “That’s what I do. This is a sacred community.”
