Weisiger Health Center is open to direct admission of non-residents for both Medicare rehabilitation and long-term care when space allows.
A centerpiece of recent renovations to The Sharon at SouthPark is the Weisiger Health Center, named in honor of donors and current residents Edward and Agnes Weisiger. This has always been a place that offers quality, compassionate care for residents needing nursing services. As of 2023, it has been transformed into a stylish, modern and light-filled residence for 24/7 care, whether your stay is temporary or long-term.
The center is licensed for 96 beds, of which 19 are Medicare beds. One floor is devoted to caring for those with memory impairments. The Sharon at SouthPark is the only community in the state accredited by Comfort Matters Dementia Care Education. This initiative provides training for nurses and other staff who care for those with memory loss.
Health Care accommodations include a mix of private room styles, most with full baths or half baths, and a handful with shared facilities. Group activities abound and the emphasis throughout is on socialization, which experts agree is an integral part of an individual’s overall well-being. Residents are encouraged to dine together next to the state-of-the-art open serving kitchen adjoining the living room with floor-to-ceiling windows. Two spacious gathering areas provide plenty of room for visits from friends and family, with the largest living area overlooking the water features and green space in the Wallace Dell. Ample terraces offer fresh air and a place for residents to rejuvenate. There is even a full-service salon as attractive as one you will find anywhere else, dedicated completely to residents of the Weisiger Health Center and assisted living.
