In its 50-plus year history, several new apartment buildings have opened at The Sharon at SouthPark. But nothing quite compares to the adventures leading up to opening The Deerwood.
To start, it was an ambitious project, with 42 independent living apartments spread across five floors, making it the largest residential building constructed since the South Tower in January of 2003. The location of The Deerwood building made it necessary to move the main entrance to The Sharon at SouthPark – twice! Existing structures had to be removed and land was cleared, which created challenges navigating the streets and limited places to park. While these were known factors, what no one could foresee was the disruption and delays that the pandemic would cause.
By this October, however, residents were moving in. And so began the intricate dance of moving trucks and the excitement of meeting new neighbors as the building filled with eager The Sharon at SouthPark newcomers.
