Over the past ten years, Anthony Caprio, MD, CMD has served as the medical director at the center of our healthcare community. His guidance has been invaluable, especially during the pandemic. Today, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his unwavering dedication, compassion and the indelible impact he leaves behind as he embarks on a new chapter at Levine Cancer Institute.
As we say goodbye to Dr. Caprio, we welcome our new interim medical director, Erin Huston, DO, CMD, who steps into this role with a wealth of experience and a commitment to maintaining the high standards of care that define The Sharon at SouthPark.
Welcoming Dr. Huston
Dr. Huston’s academic journey, beginning at Indiana University in Bloomington for her undergraduate studies, showcases her dedication to excellence. Graduating from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completing her residency at Advent Health East Orlando in Family Medicine, Dr. Huston brings a well-rounded skill set to our community.
Driven by her passion for specialized care, Dr. Huston furthered her training with a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina and has been working as a geriatrician at Atrium Health since 2017. Her board certifications in family medicine and geriatric medicine reflect her commitment to staying at the forefront of medical advancements in both specialties.
Dr. Huston’s role of interim medical director will provide ample time for Atrium Health to conduct interviews for the permanent replacement of the medical director role at The Sharon at SouthPark. This will ensure that the selection process will be meticulous, thorough and reflective of our commitment to delivering outstanding healthcare services.
In addition, we are delighted to share that Kristen Geye, NP, will continue to serve as nurse practitioner for Dr. Huston in the same capacity she performed for Dr. Caprio. Kristen’s continuity ensures a seamless transition of care and further strengthens the bond between our medical team and our residents.
We have much respect for the outstanding legacy left by Dr. Caprio and enthusiasm for the promising future under the provisional leadership of Dr. Huston.
