A lot has happened in SouthPark since The Sharon at SouthPark opened in 1969. And much of that activity has involved building. The area has taken on a decidedly urban look and feel in recent years, due in large part to commercial building projects including multi-family residential, office, healthcare, shopping and dining. While some of that momentum cooled a bit during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 has seen redevelopment in SouthPark roar back.
Recently, Jason Terzis at PBS Charlotte (WTVI) filed a report as part of their Carolina IMPACT series that chronicles the resurgence in commercial building in the area. An example of this spike in growth he cites is the construction of The Deerwood and the expansion of dining and healthcare on the The Sharon at SouthPark campus. Terzis interviewed The Sharon at SouthPark CEO Anne Moffat for the piece, which focuses on what the commercial building boom means for the future of SouthPark.
