One Day University: Free for Residents

One Day University is now free for residents

One Day University is an online curriculum of lectures with engaging professors and enthralling topics designed for adult “students-for-a-day”. Jessica Bourque, The Sharon at SouthPark’ director of vitality and well-being, had her eye on the program for a while. “With One Day University,” she says, “the large video library and the daily lectures were a huge selling point for me.”

What is One Day University?

Through this program, The Sharon at SouthPark residents have access to an extensive video library of pre-recorded lectures by 500 of the country’s most notable professors from 150 different schools. In addition, there’s a live stream every weekday at 4:00 p.m. with a one-hour talk covering topics ranging from history and the arts to psychology, culture and more. All residents need to do is contact Jessica at 704-553-3812 for a code they can use to enroll.

“It’s educational and entertaining, something I find that other educational platforms lack,” Jessica says. “Our residents had amazing live lecturers at Queens University pre-pandemic. Several of them had been attending those events and told me that they switched to this virtual subscription. I was hearing rave reviews.” It seemed like a perfect way to keep stir-crazy minds active and engaged.

According to their website, “At One Day U there are no grades, no tests, no homework — just the pure joy of lifelong learning.” That kind of joy sounds perfect right now.
