We are pleased to announce that two beloved The Sharon at SouthPark staff members are taking on new roles: Elizabeth Byrd, who has been head administrator for healthcare and assisted living, is now the vice president of health services, and Milton McGowian, who has been director of culinary services, is now the vice president of resident services.
Elizabeth Byrd, Vice President of Health Services
Elizabeth Byrd has strong organizational knowledge from her 20 years at The Sharon at SouthPark, as well as a deep understanding of the complicated and intricate regulations that govern senior community care. She has played a key role in leading the healthcare team as they successfully navigated all the challenges of COVID. In short, she is a natural choice for her new vice president role.
Elizabeth is pleased with the structural changes that brought about the new positions she and Milton now hold. Although her new responsibilities will remain similar, she says, “The new team structure will allow for more growth and will help us to do more in healthcare and assisted living.”
In addition to her new position, Elizabeth will remain The Sharon at SouthPark’ nursing home Administrator-of-Record with the State of NC.
Milton McGowian, Vice President of Resident Services
Milton began his culinary career before pursuing higher education, but has since earned his bachelor’s degree, an MBA and is currently completing a doctorate in business administration of non-profit management. He has embraced all aspects of his career thus far, but he has especially delighted in his roles as teacher and mentor to other staff members. And he has a passion for The Sharon at SouthPark’ mission of enriching the lives of those we serve by providing a nurturing environment that fosters joy, purpose and well-being.
“One reason this new role excites me,” says Milton, “is that it will inspire other team members. It will show them that hard work and dedication are keys to advancement–that work ethic and leadership are valued and rewarded in the The Sharon at SouthPark community.”
Angela Rigsbee, The Sharon at SouthPark’ president and CEO says these promotions are “an acknowledgment of the importance Milton and Elizabeth have had to the operations of The Sharon at SouthPark – especially during the pandemic.”
